Aziza Browne- Aziza Jewelry CV
Aziza Jewelry was created by Aziza Browne in 2003 from her life-long love of jewelry making beginning in childhood.
Over the years Aziza’s jewelry designs and jewelry making materials have evolved from oven baked clay to tiny hand-blown glass beads to pmc, sterling silver and eventually 14k gold wire word necklaces, bracelets and earrings, but what has always remained the same is finding ways to incorporate positive uplifting energy, color, whimsy, and inspiration into her jewelry.
Aziza received her BFA in Ceramics from SUNY New Paltz, and continued her craft education through jewelry and metal-smithing classes at schools including: Penland, Haystack, the 92nd St Y, Urban Glass, and more.
Originally from NYC, Aziza worked for many years in NYC's jewelry industry for large companies including Mikimoto America, Satya Jewelry and Talavera NYC, where she learned in depth about the cultured pearl, various jewelry handcrafting techniques, the healing properties of crystals and how to manage a jewelry business. She went on to master and teach various jewelry hand crafting techniques including design, metal-smithing, and glass bead making to small groups and workshop participants at Urban Glass, Tecnolux and CASES in NYC.
Aziza has been selling her jewelry at juried craft shows and craft fairs, in small boutique gift shops and museum stores in NYC, California, South Carolina, and North Carolina, and online since 2003. Juried craft shows include: Atlantic Antic, the Deutsche Bank Atrium Show, Crafts on Columbus, Fort Greene Artisans Bazaar, the Artist Market at Greenwich Village and the Poplar Grove Plantation Farmers Market.
She has been selling her jewelry online since 2003. Her current website is: www.AzizaJewelry.com which features her popular custom word necklaces among many other items. Her instagram handle is: www.instagram.com/azizajewelry which features her jewelry making process and showcases her jewelry on models so that potential buyers can see how they fit.
Along with attention to detail, Aziza creates, packages and ships each and every jewelry piece by hand. She also hand draws designs on each card that come with gift purchases. She loves working one-on-one with her customers to co-design and create special custom pieces that will last a lifetime.
